Even though it's been a few weeks, I wanted to follow up to my problem.

When upgrading to 0.84 I ran into a problem where one of my
machines would no longer send mail notifications to postmaster. This turned
out to be my own fault. I built the binary on a machine that had a link
for sendmail in /usr/sbin , that's what configure found. When I moved
to a different machine sendmail was only in /usr/lib (the Solaris
default), so clamav-milter couldn't run it.

However, clamav-milter will only log this if use_syslog is in effect, it
isn't written to the file log. I find this a bit confusing.

clamd seems to not care if you use syslog or a file, it logs the same
information. clamav-milter seems to log more information if you
are useing syslog, but takes that setting from the same config file as
clamd, that doesn't care.

Am I understanding this correctly ? Is there a reason the milter can't
output the same information to syslog or file, as clamd does ? Even if there
is, would the inability to run sendmail be something that should be logged
in either case ?
