Have you guys looked/heard of 7zip? http://www.7-zip.org/ *7-Zip* is free software distributed under the *GNU LGPL*.
They have a way to "extract" RAR archives using their own algorithm, also a SourceForge Project. I stumbled upon it the other day and now can say goodbye to the WinRar demo :)
