Hello all, I have a problem with Clamav. I use a Linux system with a 2.0.39 kernel (called Freesco / see http://www.freesco.org). This machine is intended to be a router, so it has no developpement tools. I compiled the program on another machine (zipslack slackware, also kernel 2.0.39 ). And I had to change some stuff a litlle to make it work (ran configure with CFLAGS=-DNO_STRTOK_T ; changed #define MAP_FAILED ; etc...). according to other posting about this that I have found.
The program compiled OK. But now that the program is compiled when I launch clamd with "fork clamd", CPU usage for this process highs up to 95/99% all the time !!! I have ran it for 2 hours liek that. This slows down the other process terribly! I do not know of any parameters I've modified in the source that would make this, or if anything should be set to prevent it, all seems really strange to me now. I tried two versions of clamav to see the differences : 0.84rc2 and 0.80, both produce the same effect on the system. Understand this system is designed for old hardware as it can run on a single floppy with 8Mb of ram ! My setup is k6-350 / 256Mb ram though. Here is the log it produces with v0.80 launched as a daemon with "fork" : May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: Daemon started. May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: clamd daemon 0.80 (OS: linux-gnulibc1, ARCH: i386, CPU: i686) May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: Log file size limited to 1048576 bytes. May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: Verbose logging activated. May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: Running as user clamav (UID 1008, GID 100) May 11 01:31:40 - clamd[13789]: Reading databases from /usr/local/clamav/share/clamav Anyone got an idea ? Thanks so much in advance, Mathieu CATTIN. _______________________________________________ http://lurker.clamav.net/list/clamav-users.html
