Hi Folks,

After installing the package, which went smoothly, and starting
the clamd-daemon with: ./clamd I got stuck.

Starting the daemon generated the following info in the clamd.log:
  +++ Started at Wed Apr 13 18:05:00 2005
  clamd daemon 0.83 (OS: linux-gnu, ARCH: i386, CPU: i686)
Log file size limited to 2097152 bytes.
  Reading databases from /var/lib/clamav
  Protecting against 32830 viruses.
  Unix socket file /tmp/clamd
Setting connection queue length to 15
Archive: Archived file size limit set to 10485760 bytes.
Archive: Recursion level limit set to 8.
Archive: Files limit set to 1000.
Archive: Compression ratio limit set to 250.
  Archive support enabled.
  Archive: RAR support disabled.
  Portable Executable support enabled.
  Mail files support enabled.
  OLE2 support enabled.
  HTML support enabled.
  Self checking every 1800 seconds.

There is a daemon running, ps -ef | grep clam results into:
root 8352 1 0 Apr13 ? 00:00:00 lt-clamd

From here I expected that the command: SCAN, VERSION etc. became
available from the prompt. But here is what I got :-(
# SCAN /home/wjanssen
bash: SCAN: command not found

***???*** What is wrong, what did I wrong ***???***
***???*** Or did I misunderstood something ***???***

Nevertheless I was able to run clamscan.
# ./clamscan -r -l scan.txt /home/wjanssen finally results into:
  ----------- SCAN SUMMARY -----------
  Known viruses: 30736
  Scanned directories: 54
  Scanned files: 736
Infected files: 5 <---= don't worry, these are the defined files
  Data scanned: 14.14 MB
  I/O buffer size: 131072 bytes
  Time: 4.990 sec (0 m 4 s)
#

Hope you can help me.

Kind regards, and many Thanks in advance.

                                            Wim Janssen

I think you may want clamdscan... Scan (iirc) isn't part of ClamAv. Try clamdscan...
