See my followup message on March 17th, but the short answer is "yes, the CVS version did fix things for us." No issues since that message, either.
I would note that we're not using clamav in a milter configuration (we are using exim/exiscan+clamd) so I'm not sure if we've seen precisely the same issue you have experienced.
