FWIW, I run the blastwave.org version on Solaris 8 and have noticed
no problems.

Haven't noticed any increase in clamd size.

About this time, the default for clamav-milter was switched from
using clamd (external) to using libclamav (internal) and the
footprint for clamav-milter increased significantly.  (You can
specify the "-e" option explicitly, and it goes back to close to
its original size.
