Subscribing to the announce list is quick, simple, and allows the posts
there to be filtered into a different mail folder. That way you don't
miss them in the middle of the discussion about why there is a separate
announcement list.....

That's what I do... and it's so low-traffic that it's non obtrusive.
subsequently, that's how I knew about the 0.82 release as quickly as I did.
