We already use sophie/sophos to scan mail passing through our mailhubs. However, messages can find their way into mailboxes via IMAP/POP if users copy messages from other systems. MBX format is an indexed text format that includes the indexing information at the top of the file. Apart from additional headers to indicate message boundaries I think it's pretty much the same as standard unix format. I would think that any software that could handle the latter wrt demiming could also handle mbx.
