Well, it depends - you may have a daemonized process running as well as your cron process, which would be a little odd. On the other hand, I have two reports of freshclam actually hanging: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=274255 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=274646 At first I thought it was maybe a one-off heisenbug, but after two reports, and the second one has found a way to reproduce it, it seems clear it's been a bug. I'm waiting for a reply from the clam team, so I don't know the cause yet. If your freshclam process is merely daemonized, you'll see a line like: freshclam daemon 0.80 (OS: linux-gnu, ARCH: i386, CPU: i386) in one of your log files when it started up. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Stephen Gran | f u cn rd ths, itn tyg h myxbl cd. | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | | http://www.lobefin.net/~steve | | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
