Hi all, new to the list and not seeing a resolve in the archives. Thought perhaps you could help.
I am running ClamAV 0.80 on FreeBSD 5.2.1. I did a pretty "standard setup" with MIMEDefang, Sendmail, and Spamassassin. I set up clamd to run as mailnull (which is the user that mimedefang and sendmail run as) and the machine has been running for 74 days without a hickup. Today I am noticing "Problems running the virus scanner" errors in the logs, which require me to restart clamd for mail to continue processing. I have looked over through the mimedefang docs and they all pretty much point to "clamd died". Uh, I knew that .. But I am not getting an error that is helping me find an answer. The info that I have found online has pointed me to a script that will check to see if the socket is alive and to restart it if it isn't. This isn't really what I am looking for, as when it dies, any mail that tries to process is rejected. Anyone have any ideas? On a different machine, I did a similar install and used the snapshot of Clamav, but the problem persists. Thanks!
