I made my changes to the conf file and put it in place and then ran make install and then I went to run clamd and it gave the error about removing the "Example" line. I checked and sure enough, the default file with the Example line and minus all my changes was there and mine was gone.
Same thing happens on Fedora Core 1.
<snip>So, I did it again and made a copy to see if I was going nuts. Sure enough, it did it again. I also moved the freshclam.conf file out of the way and noticed that make install did just the reverse. It did not copy the new conf even when there was no existing freshclam.conf.
Very weird. I am running on RH9. I have a Suse9.1 box that I'll be upgrading today. I'll let you know what I find there.
