With that amount you shouldn't have any problem. Try 1157851 mail per day (that's yesterday's count on one of my MTAs).
Might be threads implementation on 2.4 kernel. I get that too on my Aurora Linux.Question: Why do I see 4 clamd processes?
On 2.6 kernel you only see one process.
