[Clamav-users] Another Clam newbie

I hope you can help me; I'm having several problems ClamAV.   The manual says that clamd responds to the following commands: ping, reload...etc.  But how do I send these commands? I have clamuko running, but how do I know if it has detected a virus? How does it tell me?
