Hi,

I'm looking at possibly integrating ClamAV into a project of mine and would appreciate any advice from people before embarking...

Basically the application is a J2EE web application where users can upload files. I wish to virus check the files which will commonly be Microsoft Word documents and so I guess checking for macro viruses is importanat.

Question is can I run something like the Clam daemon and connect to it using Java sockets (TCP) and use the STREAM command to stream the file as the server receives it from the client. Or is there a better way? Anyone know of any JNI classes available to talk to Clam directly?

Also I notice in the 0.75 documentation that 'the protocol is obsolete and there will be a new version soon'. Does anyone know if this new protocol support streaming over TCP still? (the files being uploaded may be large and so streaming is important).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Sean
