Yes - the init scripts signal the daemon via it's pidfile.  When the log
rotates, logrotate HUP's the daemon (/etc/init.d/clamav-daemon sends a
HUP), causing the daemon to reopen it's logfile.  No pidfile, no HUP
sent.
