Rather than searching for xdm (which is what you want to leave in place) you would have got a shorter output from a search for xdm.rpmnew (which is what you want to delete). I see no reason to leave either of the xdm.rpmnew files on your machine, so my suggestion is: rm -f /etc/pam.d/xdm.rpmnew /etc/logrotate.d/xdm.rpmnew Regards, Antony. > On 21.06.2004, at 22:01, Todd Lyons wrote: > > Philipp Ringli wanted us to know: > >> hi all, > >> > >> i am getting this message from my server every once in a while: > >> Cron <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> nice -n 19 run-parts /etc/cron.daily > >> run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/freshclam exited with return code 1 > >> error: Ignoring xdm.rpmnew, because of .rpmnew ending > >> is something wrong? > > > > No. You installed your clamav (specifically the freshclam portion if it > > breaks clamav into seperate packages) and there was a config file named > > xdm that was in the new rpm package, but it left the old file in place, > > giving the new one the name of xdm.rpmnew.
