In that case leave the software as it is and see if the "illegal instruction" 
problem goes away once you revert back to the original mainboard.

I have no idea, but I know that generically-compiled applications / libraries 
(they used to be compiled for a 386, probably something slightly more recent 
now?) would work on any Intel or AMD CPU; however as soon as you start 
compiling things with optimisations or processor-specific features, you can't 
just move the binary to another chip.

If you swap the motherboard back and the problem goes away, I would be certain 
this was the problem.

If not, come back and we'll think of something else.
