Today I updated Exim to 4.34 with Exiscan ACL, and ClamAV (0.71). I made sure there were no stale clamav binaries left laying around. I verified clamd and freshclam were both 0.71 (with -V). I deleted the virus databases so that new copies would be downloaded. Yet I still get that stupid OUTDATED message in freshclam.log.

did you check for older libclamav.so files laying around and making sure all links pointed to the latest version and rerun ldconfig?
That was it. I thought I had cleaned everything off before, but it's obvious I missed libclamav.so. Thanks.
