I can
see that gmp and gmp-devel are available as rpm's for RH, SUSI etc
RPMS generaly split thir gmp package to gmp (libs only) and gmp-devel 
(headers and
other stuff not needed at runtime)

and I
can get a Sol 8 gmp package or compile it but need to comfirm where the
gmp-devel  is sourced from.
 

Just build gmp from source, (you might need `ABI=32 ./configure` instead 
of just
`./configure`).
