Doubtful. There will always be diversity in computing, and as long as users don't care one way or the other, Windows will always exist and probably will hold the desktop for a LOOOOOOOONG time. Which is fine.

The user only asks if he/she can do whatever needed on the OS that runs on the desktop. They don't really care how it's called.


An OS, any OS, is a tool nothing more, nothing less.
