Please note that I said "don't think" and "doubt", not "can't". Yes,
hardware _may_ be at fault here. As I said above, I too have seen bad
hardware do strange things. But, when _new_ _development_ code sig 11
exits on a _known_ _stable_ machine, I am inclined to think that the new
development code may have an issue (if not in of itself then with the OS
and/or environment).

However, as the problem has not yet repeated, and no others have
reported similar problems, I have no data from which to derive a
hypothesis.
