To keep track of clamav, I generally have a tail -f
/var/log/clamav/clamd.log running on each of my mail servers. That lets me
know when the database is updated: there is a helpful line that says the
database is reloaded and the number of viruses protected against is X. It
doesn't, however, tell me what version of daily.cvd was loaded. It would be
helpful to me if the messages sent in clamav-virusdb contained that total
number so that I would be able to quickly see if the most recent version of
daily.cvd has been loaded, or if I need to run a manual freshclam.
