Bonjour Cedric,

Indeed, CLAMAV is a very good product, I use it on a Mac OSX server and I am quite happy about it too, but as far as the naming is concerned I would prefer that AV editors spends much of their time on updating virus definitions than finding a common name to every new viruses. Of course I understand your point of view but as far as I am concerned I will just request CLAMAV to output new definitions before getting a viri attack.
For your information CLAMAV is not the only AV editor who calls Netsky Somefool, Barracuda too calls it Somefool until now.

Cordialement.

Hi,

I'm using clamav for 6 months on a SMTP gateaway and I'm really happy
with. Thanks to all the team especialy for her response time. Better
than commercial AV!

A little problem I have with clam it's the name of viruses. I know that
several viruses are detected before other av discover them and the team
has to find a name for it.
Typical example is for SCO.A. ClamAV was one of the first to make a
signature for it and the name found was good regarding the impact.

When this worm happend each av give his own name:
Novarg (F-Secure, Symentec, kaspersky)
Mimail.R (Trend Micro)
Shimg (CA)
MyDoom (McAfee)
Sco.A (clamav)

But after one or two day the name was MyDoom for every one but clamav.
I think it could be a good point for clam to modify his signature name
in order to reflect the common name.
It's the same problem with netsky, clamav is the only one who call it
SomeFool.
It should be very nice to change the name when an other name is used by
all av.
It's quite unconfortable to deal with that. It's big problem, but it
should be much more easy to have in notification the name commonly used.

Regards.
