Thank you very much.  This is what I needed.  I missed this because it 
has no man page and is not mentioned in the freshclam man page.  I did 
find a reference in the manual, but it was under installation not 
configuration.  I understand that this is an open source project and 
that documentation is the last thing considered on any project.  Even 
with my troubles, I find the documentation quite impressive.  This is a 
great project and product.
