Correct, however there are some significant features (eg: MS Macro virus 
detection) in the CVS version which you might find desirable.

How are you passing your emails to clamav?   Do you use a milter? mailscanner? 
some other MTA plugin?

That sounds a bit sinister to me...

Tell us how you are passing incoming mails from your MTA (which are you 
using?) to ClamAV; this might give us a clue about what's happening.
