No idea. But there are no real files in /dev on Mac OS X. They are all virtual files created by the kernel devfs system. You cannot delete them (nor should you). I don't know why you would want to scan the raw device either. You certainly won't find anything. I'm not clear on what you are trying to do. If you want to scan files on an entire device, you'll probably want to scan the appropriate directory in /Volumes.
