my virus signatures dropped from 20831 to 20346, is there only one server I should be pointing to for updates? Are the db servers always going to be this much out of date?

They're not out of date (as one can see from the db versions or the output of sigtool --info <db-file>).
There were some false positives removed, and the database has been cleaned from duplicate signatures.
