This is an smtp syntax error.  What did you press here (underlined with
^^^^^^):
 250 2.6.0 Ok, id=00217-01, from MTA: 250 Ok: queued as 1A3F944F6

^^^^^^
 500 5.5.2 Error: bad syntax
?  It looks like you just pressed return?  What you're looking for is
quit
not <ret> or ^d.

Not a clam error, at any rate.
