Just to say I reported this yesterday too. With clamav-devel-20040129, freshclam and our Novel http proxy, freshclam returns "1" for success but it hasn't worked - for some reason our Novel proxy causes a timeout and I think the server drops the connection. /var/lib/clamav/ fills up with the "oddly named" files and yet clamscan uses /usr/local/share/clamav/ for the location of viruses.*.
