I have worked on this for quite some time, and I'm not sure why Clam won't detect the Eicar test virus. It does, however, detect other virii. Additionally, virii in zipped files are not detected. If I scan the files manually, i.e. 'clamscan eicar.com' or 'clamscan eicar.zip', the following is returned:
Known viruses: 20584 Scanned directories: 0 Scanned files: 1 Infected files: 1 Data scanned: 0.00 MB I/O buffer size: 131072 bytes Time: 0.437 sec (0 m 0 s) This is a RH 9.0 box with clam 0.65.
