Isn't it time to stop supporting the old db format? Version 0.65 has been out for two months now and lot's of people seem to have "problems" when they keep both the db and the cvd files.
Is there a reason not to install 0.65 or a newer snapshot?
2 months is not enough for some people. For example we built an interface in one of our products to so-called "file filters" and configured some instances for our clients with clamscan from clamav 0.6 as one filter. We have to :
- rerun our integration tests with clamav 0.65 (and if necessary change the clamscan exit code <-> user-message mapping in the configuration files according to the results),
- upgrade each client conf and clamav version (meaning there will be a short downtime for users).
In our case we can manage being told that 0.6 won't receive any more sig updates one month from now (this will be hard to swallow to some, but manageable). I can very well imagine others needing 3 or even 6 months to prepare themselves. It depends on the amount of integration tests to run, the number of platforms involved and the day-to-day load on the staff.
So please announce an official end-of-life for the 0.6 version so people can plan ahead.
Best regards,
