Hi,

I found in the manpage docs some commands to send to clamd like PING.
Question is now, HOW ?

Directly to the port or throu the socket ( in which case the how is a how^2
:) ).

We discovered 2 typical crash situations with clamd and build a detection
script
which restarts clamd wenn needed.. one situation is not 100% clamd related,
it's more the sideeffect we check, it's possible to get this sideeffect by
deactivating the resolver, in which case exim will fork to it max client
setting i.e. 50 simular tasks at a time. This happens too when clamd
crashes.
mostly clamd drops one of its two childs which is noteable in a pstree :)

Ok, we could check the resolver before killing clamd , but checking clamd if
it
reacts to PING sound much better to me :-))

So, how do i send a PING to clamd processes ?
