daemontools isn't "special", whatever that means, and bash shells are neither small nor lightweight. so, you lose on all counts.

To be honest, Brian's script only requires /bin/sh (it contains no bash-isms), and it does not rely on other packages besides clamd), so it should run on most UNIXens (even on DJB-free ones).
