You should be using the clamav-devel port anyway. That version is way

Did you do

chown -R vscan:vscan_gid /usr/local/share/clamav

??

Is there some mix up here or am I mixed up myself? I thought that
that old clamav used viruses.db* instead of *.cvd?
If I am not mixed up, then you did mix up things.
