Hi, I've posted about this before, but thought it worth mentioning again. I've upgraded my ClamAV installation from the 03112003 CVS snapshot, and it's lasted 3 days before going mad.
First signs are this sort of thing:- Nov 6 15:29:09 castor clamav-milter[11231]: hit max-children limit (5 >= 5): waiting for some to exit Nov 6 15:29:09 castor clamav-milter[11224]: hit max-children limit (5 >= 5): waiting for some to exit Nov 6 15:29:09 castor clamav-milter[11166]: ClamAv: private data not NULL Nov 6 15:30:06 castor clamav-milter[11847]: clamfi_connect: connection from vscan-a.ucl.ac.uk [144.82.100.150] Nov 6 15:30:06 castor clamav-milter[11847]: hit max-children limit (5 >= 5): waiting for some to exit Nov 6 15:30:09 castor clamav-milter[11231]: pthread_cond_timedwait: (rc = 110) Nov 6 15:30:09 castor clamav-milter[11224]: pthread_cond_timedwait: (rc = 110) `\214^H^H Nov 6 15:30:09 castor clamav-milter[11231]: ClamAv: private data not NULL Nov 6 15:30:09 castor clamav-milter[11224]: ClamAv: private data not NULL The pthread_cond_timedwait errors all show a few characters of ASCII garbage, which looks like a bug somewhere to me. After a few of the above messages, clamd starts showing session timeouts:- Nov 6 15:33:13 castor clamd[24615]: Session 2 stopped due to timeout. Nov 6 15:33:13 castor clamav-milter[11933]: ClamAv: private data not NULL Nov 6 15:33:14 castor clamd[24615]: Session 3 stopped due to timeout. Interestingly, when I spotted it, there were about 30 clamav-milter processes running. Stopping and restarting clamd cleaned up 2/3 of them, and then it went straight back into the error state. I have to stop both sendmail and clamd, then restart them to fix the problem. There was nothing else in the logs that looked relevant, but I'm happy to test any theories...
