The local socket file /var/run/clamav/clamd is not created, so it seems
clamd is not running.

So when you do /usr/local/etc/rc.d/clamd.sh start, do you see the local
socket file created???
Does `ps ax | grep clamd` show that clamd is running?

Check that clamd starts and that the socket file is created.
