Hmmm... I run 0.60 on my FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE laptop with no problems. I doubt updating to CVS would solve the problem. My bet would be on a permissions problem. What user are you starting clamd as? What user is it set to become? Does that user have permission to write to your socket?
