ok. now it works as it used to. but what is exactly this scanmail feature? Isn't it necessary to actually scan text emails (as the name itself says)? I couldn't find information about it in the docs. in my syslog I see: Aug 10 18:19:33 cervellone clamd[573]: Mail files support disabled. what does that mean? in amavis-ng log I see: Aug 10 18:35:07 cervellone amavis[1155]: AMAVIS::AV::CLAMD initialized. ... Aug 10 18:35:08 cervellone amavis[1155]: AMAVIS::AV::CLAMD: No virusses found so clamd seem to work even without ScanMail, right? anyway now my clamav.conf looks like this: #To reconfigure clamd run #dpkg-reconfigure clamav-daemon LocalSocket /var/run/clamd.ctl #ScanMail ScanArchive StreamSaveToDisk ArchiveMaxRecursion 5 ArchiveMaxFiles 1000 ArchiveMaxFileSize 10M FollowFileSymlinks ThreadTimeout 180 MaxThreads 5 MaxConnectionQueueLength 15 LogSyslog LogFile /var/lib/clamav/clamav.log LogTime LogFileMaxSize 1M PidFile /var/run/clamd.pid DataDirectory /var/lib/clamav/ SelfCheck 3600 ScanMail was always enabled in my conf file and I had no problems until the last upgrade.
