What are guys using out there to rotate clamd log file? I am running the latest snapshot (as always) but kinda I am stuck with this subject.
On FreeBSD, I use /etc/newsyslog to specify how my log files are rotated. However, when I tell newsyslog to give a -1 signal to clamd when the file is being rotated, clamd dies 'kabisa'! (completely) ;-) [heehee, some native African language for you]. And when I tell clamd that LogFileMaxSize is, say, 5MB then it stops logging when that is hit, and at this time the MTA is still running. So I end up not being able to get correct stats for the virii intercepted. I'll appreciate advise on this. BTW, has anyone set LogFileMaxSize 0 and seen what happens? A good number of times I have seen the log file grow to GB ;-). Well, I was using Verbose logging then. It fills the filesystem in no time. Perhaps the logging facility can be changed to have different levels for Verbose?? I wonder what it will do with debug turned on. This is just my experience. Clamav is doing a great job however!! -Wash -- Odhiambo Washington <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> "The box said 'Requires Wananchi Online Ltd. www.wananchi.com Windows 95, NT, or better,' Tel: +254 2 313985-9 +254 2 313922 so I installed FreeBSD."
