Yes, I know.

Opensource (read Clamav) requires that some folk who is not paid updates the
virusdef db, while with the commercial ones, some folks are paid to do this
job, hence the difference.
For me as a person, and for my love for Open Source, I'd rather stick to Clamav,
because it works.
What you need to realize is that Open Source projects are "community" projects
and can be equally effective with the community participating in the process.
For example, Tomasz does update the virus db from sources that also include
contributions from people using commercial products.

I know this does not answer your question head-on, but it would take ages for
us to compare clamav with those commercial products and then publish the results ;-)
