Please don't be sorry. I agree that this sync problem is real pain. To be exact Cinelerra is the perfect tool for me because 90% of my work is mute.. At worst I add some music on a track. As for Suse, it comes with zillions of x264 and always create some issues when comes the time to compile. Nothing is perfect unfortunately and I am a bit scared sh:::less every time I need to recompile.
