Yes that is annoying. You can of course insert silence. But that's been problematic for me for some reason. What I usually do is record about 2 minutes (or longer than you need) of black and make a short clip of that. That way you can skirt things up and down the timeline with the same method as described previously. Pushing the black, or pulling the scene. etc. Using a black track keeps your audio tracks from going askew as well.
