What I found from my experience is that you don't need
to install a complete XServer (Xorg...) but just the
basic X libraries, with that, it's possible to redirect
the X output to another X Server.

I think it's possible to start Cinlerra without an X
server instance running on the machine, you can achieve that
via "ssh -X -l {user} {host}".
The "-X" switch will redirect the X output to "your" machine.

So, my advise is connect to your "headless/Xless" machine via "ssh -X"
and then start you cinelerra batch command.
If the basic X libaries are installed on the headless machine, it should
work (and the cinlerra output will be on your screen).
