I am on Ubuntu 9.10 and have tried cinelerra cv and cv smp and and
swtc all give me the same problem.

What OS to be honest I've switched to Ubuntu Studio and run it in
cojunction with Rosegarden and audacity to polish and otherwise create
manipulate sound. worked flawlessly from the first install my wife is a
linux nubie but a master at AVID and has had no trouble with her first
install and is making films now
