They are all horribly slow, cumbersome to use, bloated with icons, avatars and lots of other useless noise, which sucks your bandwidth when all you want to get is just searching for some information... Moreover, are you aware, that many mailing lists (including the cinelerra list and the lumiera list) are bridged/mirrored at gmane.org? This way, you can get a threaded view through a web frontend with search facilities. And still more important: you can alternatively use the good old news:// protocol and your favorite news reader to access the information. Especially, when you joined later and didn't get every mails since creation of the world, this might be an interesting alternative... > I like the program, and use a lot of open source software. Basically, when it comes to content or to the way of communication, there is no difference between a mailing list and a forum. So, lets just suppose the cinelerra mailing list was a forum. Would you then call it a "good active forum", or would there be something, which could be improved? I mean, regarding the content and the way communication happens?
