Well, I tried playing with some compilation flags with no success.  I
am really a novice with compiling from source.  Any recommendations on
flags.  It looks like the problem is in linking to bitstream.o.  I'm
not sure how to fix this.

I have no idea what R_X86_64_32 is.  Could I ask what you suspect it
is?  Is it some non-free software?  Is it something that I should
replace?
