I'm using Cinelerra successfully on Ubuntu.

She is a good software, especially when you know her and her tastes.
There are some operations or fileformats that make her easily irritated.

I advice you make her acquaintance using the formats she likes most, so
to have a basic and safe workflow.
Once you are familiar with her, you can try provoking experiments.
