Yes. You could use the "translate" video effect.
make two time lines one for the main video (background with the
speaker)
and one with the slide show, (below it)
add translate effect to the first one and adjust so that the speaker is
to shifted.
add translate to the second one and project it in a corner of your
choice.
I suggest first using only the background time line and when you are
happy with the translate effect, add the second time line with the
slide show and do the work there.
