are you using debian?
the purple/green problem is know to appear only in debian powerpc libdv. I use 
slackintosh and this problem never appeared to me.
try a newer libdv, or recompile it yourself, or try fedora or yellowdog 
linux ;)
I think you'll have to write some code to make cinelerra works w/ ffmpeg dv.
