Hi
Attached are the output to 2 things.

Reading the output from the install I found it odd that a more recent file version should be rejected. Why would that be ?

Franz
BTW, what updates on the Google SoC situation?

2 things. First try just apt-get install cinelerra. I've found the
error messages from apt-get to be much more helpful than those of
aptitude (but I presume that's because I'm more used to gentoo than
debian). Please report the output of that command.

Second, just type "cinelerra" at a command prompt:
(using your prompt from the post...)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cinelerra

Please report the output of this command. If cinelerra is installed
properly, the program should pop up. If it is improperly installed, it
should output an error message indicating the problem. If it isn't
installed you should get a "No such file or directory" error.

I think someone else made this comment as well.

Also: any updates on the Google SoC situation?

hope this helps,

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
